It must be me...

The only 1/2 inning of decent baseball that the Threshers played occured while I was not at the ballpark.

I got to the game 1/2 inning late on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to find the Threshers were up 5-0 when I got there. Unfortunately by the time I bought a beer and got to my seat the lead was down to 5-4 and things just got worse. The defense played like the Bad News Bears allowing the Bluejays to take a 7-5 lead. Though the offense did battle back for a brief 8-7 lead the pitching made sure that did not last long. Ben Pfinsgraff gave up a three-run home run to the first batter he would face in the game ensuring a 10-8 Dunedin victory.

It was a solid team effort (or lack of concentration) to lose the game so I don't mean to single out Ben Pfinsgraff. Matt Spencer misplayed two balls in left field, the infield of Urick, Cardenas, Hernandez and cathcer Alan Robbins all had errors in the game, and starting pitcher Darren Byrd lookied like the Darren BYrd of old who had been demoted to Lakewood for his horrible ERA at Clearwater to start the year.

I'm going to skip even trying to go to the game on Sunday, and by the sound of the thunder outside this Sunday morning the game may be cancelled giving the Threshers at least one opportunity to avoid a loss this July 4th weekend.
