BOX SCORE
SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
For the second consecutive night the Threshers offense picked up seven runs against the Reds and picked up doble digits in the hits category. Also just like last night the team got a terrific boost from the pitching staff this time with a terrific effort from Darren Byrd.
Darren carried a shut out into the eighth inning before surrending the only Reds run of the game on a solo home run. In the end though his numbers were spectacular. He threw 8.0 innings scattering seven hits while striking out six and walking none. This was his fourht consecutive quality start, and shows a dramatic turn around from how he began the 2008 campaign. Congratulations to Darren on another job well done.
I have to give credit to the offense too. It was a terrific sixteen hit outing for the Threshers as well. Tuffy Gosewisch led the way with four hits and two runs scored while Gus Milner chimed in with three hits including a triple. Four players picked up two hits in the game, and every player on the team reached base at least once in the game.
The team now heads to Ft. Myers for a three-game set before returning home on Sunday afternoonto face the Dunedin Bluejays.
DON'T FORGET TO VISIT THE AWARDS PAGE AND GET IN YOUR NOMINATIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S AWARDS. It has been a tough season for the boys, but many of them have had good individual efforts, even if the team has not experienced much success. Let's reward those deserving players by recognizing their efforts.
