BOX SCORE
SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
One night after being held to just three hits by the Reds the Threshers' offense came out with a mission. The team picked up three first inning runs on a home run from Rob Watson and a 2-RBI double from John Urick for an early 3-0 lead.
Unfortunately the Reds tied the game in the bottom of the inning, but the Threshers offense was far from done. The team picked up a run in the second inning when DH Joe Savery doubled and later scored on a Michael Taylor single and yhey team would add two more in the third on another RBI double from Johnny U that was followed by an RBI double from Fidel Hernandez.
Meanwhile Carlos Monasterios held the Reds offens in check holding them to no more runs through his six innings with the Threshers on top 6-3.
The Threshers offense added one more run for the team in the seventh inning and Matt German came in from the bullpen for the final out of the inning as he relieved Carlos Monasterios from a terrific effort.
The Reds would tack on one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the Threshers lead to 7-4 against German, but with Bear Hill relieving Matt that would prove to be too little too late.
For good measure the Threshers offense tacked on a couple of insurance runs in the ninth inning on a pair of singles, a walk and an error to run the score to 9-4.
The Reds did manage one mercy run in the ninth to give the home crowd a glimmer of hope, but in the end it was manager Razor Shines and the Threshers who reigned supreme.
The Threshers will close out the series with the Reds on Wednesday night before heading to Ft. Myers for three and they will then return home on Sunday.
