SCHMIDT LIST PLAYER-OF-THE-GAME
The Threshers got a superb game from starter Darren Byrd on Thursday night and the offense got enough hits at the right time to give a win.
Despite being out hit 9-6 the Threshers outscored the Miracle 4-3 to get a game in the win column on Thursday. Darren Byrd threw what could have been his best game of the year taking the team into the ninth inning before finally being lifted with one out.
The MIracle would rally to make a game of it at 4-3, but in the end the Threshers reigned supreme.
As mentioned I have company and have little time for a write up, but EXCELLENT work from our boys tonight.
WEBSITE NOTES: There will continue to be no video updates now through Sunday. I have company in town I just don't have the time to spend getting them done. It does seem though that the video updates are a hit. My website traffic had more than doubled in the last two weeks since I started the video updates. I hope that everyone who sees them understands the spirit in which the videos were done. I'm really NOT trying to make fun of anyone. I'm just trying to put a little humor into some otherwise humorless reports. I don't run this website and spend countless summer nights at the ball park to make enemies out of the players and coaches for this team. I'd love to write glowing and positive game reviews every night, but when the team has a 10-20 record that is hard to do. I generally try to put as good of a spin on things as I can, but I feel like if I am going to run a decent website on the team I also have a responsibility to tell it like it is. When the team loses it is not easy to make everything I say sound all that great.
I continue to appreciate all of you who have visited this website over the years. It has evolved a lot since the early days of the internet, and hopefully the video updates can be the next step in that evolution.
DON'T FORGET TO VISIT THE AWARDS PAGE AND GET IN YOUR NOMINATIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S AWARDS. So far I have gotten a lot fewer nominations than I typically get each year. This is supposed to be a chance for the fans of the team to spread some love to the boys, but without your input that is not possible. I am seriously considering cancelling the awards this season if I do not get enough votes to make them meaningful. PLEASE, get out the vote! It has been a tough season for the boys, but many of them have had good individual efforts, even if the team has not experienced much success. Let's reward those deserving players by recognizing their efforts.
