The Threshers and Hammerheads were mired in a pitcher's dual on Tuesday night. Drew Naylor got the start for the Threshers and threw a gem. He held the Hammerheads to just one hit through seven innings of baseball, but the Threshers were held scoreless through seven innings on just six hits by the Hammerheads.

In the eighth inning the Threshers offense struck first picking up a run when Quintin Berry led off the inning with a single, moved to second on a sac bunt from Robert Watson and then scored on a single from John Urick. Urick has been an RBI machine for the Threshers this year, leading the team in that category, and this was certainly a clutch hit from him as he had struck out in his first three at bats.

Drew Naylor surrendered just his second hit of the night to start the eighth inning as the Hammerheads looked to battle back in the game. The runner was moved to second on a sac bunt, and then the next batter walked to put men on first and second with one out. At that point the Threshers manager Razor Shines lifted Naylor in favor of Matt Smith who was rehabbing with the Threshers from AAA Lehigh Valley.

Smith's first pitch sailed high over the head of catcher Tuffy Gosewisch to advance the runners to second and third. Smith then issued a six pitch walk to load the bases. The next batter then knocked a sac fly to right field to tie the game with two outs in the inning. The next batter reached base on an error by first baseman John Urick that plated two more runs and put the Hammerheads on top 3-1 to negate the RBI from Urick just a half inning earlier that had put the Threshers on top.

The Threshers had one last chance to get their offense on the board again as they went to the top of the ninth trailing 3-1. The first two batters of the inning would go down on strikes bringing Fidel Hernandez to the plate for one last gasp. Hernandez popped out, and that would be your ballgame.

It was a tough night for the Threshers getting just one run on eight hits while the Hammerheads picked up three runs on just two hits.
