BOX SCORE
The SCHMIDT LIST.

Zack Segovia got the start for the Threshers on Tuesday and ran into a bit of trouble early as the Cardinals picked up a run on two doubles in the first inning to go up 1-0. In the second inning the Cardinals picked up another double and a home run to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the third inning the Threshers took advantage of two walks to Quintin Berry and Adrian Cardenas and then a double steal to put them at second and third. Matt Spencer contributed with a 2-RBI single to get the Threshers back in the game trailing 3-2. The Cardinals tacked on a fourth run in the bottom of the inning on a single and double to extend their lead to 4-2.

Once again the Threshers would make it a one run game in the fourth on singles from Tuffy Gosewisch and Fidel Hernandez followed by a ground rule double from Threshers all-star left fielder Gus Milner to make the game 4-3. In the sixth the Cardinals got a solo shot off of Zack Segovia with two outs to go back up by two and make it a 5-3 game.

Dan Brauer would replace Segovia in the sixth inning and hold the Cardinals scoreless through the sixth and Brett Harker pitched the seventh bringing the Threshers to bat in the eighth still trailing 5-3. In that eighth inning the Threshers mounted a rally with a hit two walks a Cardinals error and an RBI sac fly from Fidel Hernandez cutting the lead to 5-4 and loading the bases with two outs and Adrian Cardenas coming to the plate. Cardenas would push a little to hard in his at bat and go down on strikes, but the Threshers were once again alive trailing by just a run.

The Threshers all-star pitcher Brett Harker remained on the mound into the eighth inning and held the Cardinals scoreless again brining the Threshers into their final at-bat of regulation looking for a run to tie and two runs to win the game. Jake Blalock came in as a pinch hitter to lead off the ninth. Blalock knocked a shallow fly to right for the first out bringing Matt Spencer to the plate. Spencer got on first with a single up the middle to bring Jay Miller up with one out.

Jay Miller has been hot this year hitting .306 on the year. Miller reached a fielder's choice with Spencer out at second, and PJ Antoniato stepping up in the unenviable position of the two-out must-hit at bat. PJ flew out to center to end the game with the Threshers on the losing end of a 5-4 score despite out hitting the Cardinals 11-9 in the game.
