The Threshers and Mets faced off on Wednesday in the final game of their four game series. Threshers' starter Josh Outman was on fire fanning what seemed to be nearly every batter he faced with 10 Ks through the first six innings of work with no walks. Unfortunately two of the five hits he allowed were of the solo home run variety and the Mets got out to an early 2-0 as the Threshers offense struggled to get on track.
Finally in the fifth inning the offense got some momentum going with consecutive singles by Clay Harris , and Hector Made followed by a 2-RBI double from PJ Antoniato who has been on fire lately hitting .368 coming into the game, by far the highest average on the team.
Josh Outman would last seven innings and leave the game with it tied at 2-2 for reliever "Bear" Hill wh would shut down the Mets the rest of the way while the offense busted out in the bottom of the eighth to secure a win.
In the eighth Brian Burgamy singled on a line drive to left field and moved to second on a sac bunt from Matt Thayer. Jake Blalock then reached on a fielder's choice, but Burgamy was out at third leaving a man on first with two outs. Jeremy Slayden then singled followed by what would prove to be a game-winning 2-RBI triple from Jason Donald. John Suomi then walked and Clay Harris singled in Donald from third for an insurance run before the inning ended with the Threshers going onto a winning score of 5-2.
Player in yellow denotes the SCHMIDT List player(s) of the game.
